Summary:
IDP were commissioned to develop a design for the remodelling and refurbishment of a former Victorian school building and site. The existing building, locally listed, was used only as seminar spaces. The client wanted to enhance the use of the building creating more contemporary IT rich seminar and lecture spaces, but also carry out remodelling to include social and dining spaces, staff resource areas and inviting and warm external ‘social areas’ within a confined site.

Design and implementation was split into two phases, as follows:
Phase 1 of our design focused on the main dining space, staff offices, 15 seminar spaces, a new full cook kitchen, and ancillary spaces.
Phase 2 involved providing an additional 18 seminar spaces, two break out spaces, a new main entrance, roof terrace, external social areas that were warm and welcoming and a refurbished car park.
This scheme was successfully completed whilst the building remained in operation, with little disruption to daily life. IDP was integral in creating the phasing strategy, which was effective and efficient, ensuring we worked collaboratively and closely with the estates team and end users to achieve the very best results.
